Pocket PCs : What exactly are these ?!?!

A Pocket PC, abbreviated P/PC or PPC, is a hardware specification for a handheld-sized computer (Personal digital assistant) that runs the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system. It may have the capability to run an alternative operating system like NetBSD, Linux, Android or others. It has many of the capabilities of modern desktop PCs.

Currently there are thousands of applications for handhelds adhering to the Microsoft Pocket PC specification, many of which are freeware. Some of these devices also include mobile phone features. Microsoft compliant Pocket PCs can also be used with many other add-ons like GPS receivers, barcode readers, RFID readers, and cameras.

In 2007, with the advent of Windows Mobile 6, Microsoft dropped the name Pocket PC in favor of a new naming scheme. Devices without an integrated phone are called Windows Mobile Classic devices instead of Pocket PCs. Devices with an integrated phone and a touch screen are called Windows Mobile Professional devices and devices without a touch screen are called Windows Mobile Standard devices.

So according to you what do you think about Pocket PCs, good, bad, anything, just leave your Comments below--->

Apple Iphone vs Nokia N96

Now that each and every one is familiar with Apple Iphone, lets take closer look at its competitor Nokia N96. Since the launch of Iphone there has been many discrepancies and negative reviews from its users but i must say its is a very stylish and vibrant cell phone one can ever find till date. But as far as features and its comparison with its rival N96 is concerned I guess N96 leads its fanclub.

Lets Compare them:

Apple Iphone positive points vs N96 :

  • Operating System (Mac OS X) is better then Symbian.

  • Browser (safari).

  • Email (displays HTML-Rich, Push IMAP Yahoo, IMAP/POP3).

  • Music Player (iTunes).

  • Touchscreen with multitouch sensors.

  • Processor Speed of 620 MHz better then N96 ( 264 MHz ).

  • Large Screen Size.

  • Battery Talktime of 8hrs and Playback of 24hrs.

  • Spell Checker present which N96 does not have.

  • Proximity Sensor (Turns screen off when put up to your ear) again which N96 lacks.

  • Threaded SMS which N96 lacks.

Nokia N96 positive points vs Apple Iphone:

  • 5 Mega Pixels Camera

  • Dual Led Flash

  • Mobile TV i.e. DVB-H

  • Memory expansion slot ,MICRO SD

  • Replaceable battery which Iphone lacks

  • MMS, IM, Video calling, Video Capture, Voip are features which iPhone doesn't have

  • User can install 3rd Party softwares whereas in Iphone you can not.

  • Video Output to TV

  • Supports Stereo Bluetooth (A2DP)

  • Comes unlocked that is not locked to carrier.

Common Points:

  • Both Comes with 8/16 GB variant

  • Both have Youtube application in common

  • Both have ambient light sensor

If reviews, user-friendly and smooth operation are to be considered , Votes are in lead for N96 but this does not mean iPhone sucks.!
Apple Iphone has its different fan support.

Again I would rate Apple iPhone 4.3 / 5 and Nokia N96 4.6 / 5.

What do you think?

Your comments are awaited the most!

Journey From Floppy Disc to Blu - Ray Disc

Just while a Decade back, people were using the FLOPPY DISC, things they found were going simple for small data transfers and storage of small files ( max of 1.44 MB). Then came the ERA of Compact Disc ( CD's ). With the technology of CD ( 700 MB) , there was great turning point to all major industries , large data transfer and storage was possible, but it still lacked the high defination (HD) clarity for audio and Video. Then moving still up in the graph we had powerful turning point towards DVDs ( 4.7 GB). Here high definition was possible but still some or the other factor lacked for extreme high definition Videos.

But with the technology of BLU-RAY disc, all was possible. Blu-ray, also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD), is the name of a next-generation optical disc format jointly developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), a group of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer and media manufacturers (including Apple, Dell, Hitachi, HP, JVC, LG, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, TDK and Thomson). The format was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large amounts of data. The format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc. This extra capacity combined with the use of advanced video and audio codecs will offer consumers an unprecedented HD experience.

While current optical disc technologies such as DVD, DVD±R, DVD±RW, and DVD-RAM rely on a red laser to read and write data, the new format uses a blue-violet laser instead, hence the name Blu-ray. Despite the different type of lasers used, Blu-ray products can easily be made backwards compatible with CDs and DVDs through the use of a BD/DVD/CD compatible optical pickup unit. The benefit of using a blue-violet laser (405nm) is that it has a shorter wavelength than a red laser (650nm), which makes it possible to focus the laser spot with even greater precision. This allows data to be packed more tightly and stored in less space, so it's possible to fit more data on the disc even though it's the same size as a CD/DVD. This together with the change of numerical aperture to 0.85 is what enables Blu-ray Discs to hold 25GB/50GB.

Blu-ray is currently supported by more than 180 of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer, recording media, video game and music companies. The format also has broad support from the major movie studios as a successor to today's DVD format. In fact, seven of the eight major movie studios (Disney, Fox, Warner, Paramount, Sony, Lionsgate and MGM) have released movies in the Blu-ray format and six of them (Disney, Fox, Sony, Warner, Lionsgate and MGM) are releasing their movies exclusively in the Blu-ray format. Many studios have also announced that they will begin releasing new feature films on Blu-ray Disc day-and-date with DVD, as well as a continuous slate of catalog titles every month.
